I’m delighted to say that after my post last week many of you decided to join us in the fight for fairness at this year’s AGM, but we would always welcome many more former colleagues and friends because undoubtedly there is strength in numbers.

Each week I will share a few facts and also some of the work that the committee have been doing on your behalf.

HSBC ANNUAL REPORT 2024

Dame Caroyln Fairburn, Chair Group Remuneration Committee writes:

We also spent considerable time in 2023 thinking about Executive Director remuneration. Hasn’t she done a great job? Noel Quinn’s Single figure of remuneration:

  • 2022 £5.562 MILLION
  • 2023 £10.641 MILLION.

By my calculation that is an INCREASE of 93.1%

Last year HSBCs largest share holder voted AGAINST the Directors Remuneration.

HSBC Defined Benefit Pension Scheme Members on average received a 4% rise in pension, BELOW inflation once again. The Bank ignored the Pension Trustees recommendation to increase the award this year above the cap to help with the cost living crisis.

Clawback as you well know impacts the lowest paid and yet this global, illustrious and wealthy financial institution remains resolute in reducing your occupational pension by as much as 30% EVERY YEAR.

How can they justify this? Especially as the DBS pension fund (at the last triannual valuation) is in excess by £3.2 BILLION after liabilities. Another valuation is due shortly.

They have the audacity to tell us that the Bank has given £5 million to the Bank Workers Charity.

HSBC LISTEN TO THIS, WE ARE NOT ASKING FOR CHARITY.

Just pay us the pension that was promised to us over a life time of employment.
