8 WEEKS TO GO
HSBC AGM at The InterContinental 02 Hotel LONDON Friday 3rd May
This week I attended the HORIZONS Management Committee meeting at the prestigious HSBC Building in Canary Wharf. It was great to meet up again with the Chair Len Aspel, Deputy Chair Denise Bruss (Welfare Officer) the Editor and your Regional Representatives. They had travelled from every corner of the UK to be there, Newcastle, Colwyn Bay and Cornwall to name but a few. Len, as many of you know, has been instrumental in resolving many of our campaigner’s complex pension issues, drawing on his wealth of knowledge. Len, Denise and your representatives are very supportive of our campaign, for as Len stated in the meeting “ Horizons is there to safeguard the interests of pensioners”
If you haven’t already joined Horizons, you are most definitely missing out on a host of benefits that are available to members for just £10 per annum. Here is the link which will tell you all about the pensioners association.
I was very kindly given the opportunity to update the Horizons board on the Midland Clawback campaign, explaining that our main focus is currently the up and coming HSBC AGM. I also gave a brief update on other matters of importance that we continue to drive. For example, information on my latest meeting with my M P Nadhim Zahawi ( He appeared in the ITV drama Mr Bates and the Post Office) and the support he is offering me, as his constituent. He recognises the inequality that exists within our pension scheme and has stated that he is willing to take on the Bank.
For your information I have attached my email that was sent to the Chair of the Equalities and Human Rights Commission for which I did not receive a response. This is not acceptable. Nadim has taken my email and sent it again to the Chair, Kishwer Falkner, Baroness Falkner of Margravine. Let’s hope that she has the good grace to respond to Nadhim. We will keep you posted.

HSBC are lagging behind in societal enlightenment, for which I am more than happy to tell them when I get the opportunity to face the Board of Directors on your behalf. The Bank’s argument for the removal of Clawback is weak.
I hope by now you understand the importance of your presence at this event. There is strength in numbers, and we need to make the bank sit up and take notice, that this contentious issue is not going away any time soon.
If you can’t be there, but I hope you can, just a small request from me. Please donate, no matter how small, to support our fighting fund and to help to cover the travel expenses of those who are attending.

In the past the AGM has been dominated by other protest groups. As ex HSBC staff we NEED to be the dominant protest group this year. That requires attendance inside and voices outside.
The Committee and I will see you there.
